The new addition to Hanover Central High School is next to the tennis courts. HLA has its own entrance and drive.  

Pre-registration is done in January. Contact Mrs. Neitzel (219-374-3871) for availability.  

FULL DAY (Mon-Thurs) 8:30 AM-2:30 PM
HALF DAY (Mon-Thurs) from 8:15-10:45 AM or 11:45 AM-2:15 PM.
 

There will be a photo/video release form available at registration. Parents/guardians can choose whether or not to allow the use of photos/videos on district social media or websites.  

There will be a maximum of 14 students in each class.

Families are assigned a number on the waitlist.  As openings occur, students will be offered a placement based on their number on the waiting list.  

$375 per month full-day
$185 per month half-day
 

Payment is due on the 1st of the month. Tuition will be posted 15 days prior to the first of the month for those that would like to pay in advance.

Yes, prorated fees will be shared with families each month based on the days in session.  

Families will receive further information on how to submit payments.  Payments will be made through PowerSchool.

A typical day will blend whole and small group learning activities, purposeful play stations, and outdoor/gross motor activities for the full-day and half-day programs.  The full-day program will give the students extended opportunities in all areas.  Here is a video link showing “A Day in the Life of a Kitty Kat” 

For the 2024-2025 school year, we ask families to provide snacks for both half-day and full-day students and lunch for full-day students.

Yes!  Teachers will ask for volunteers when needed.  Adults will need to complete background checks to be approved prior to volunteering for field trips, class parties, classroom visits, etc.

Yes.  A physical is required, along with immunization records. Physicals should be completed between winter/spring 2024 and the first day of school. Both forms need to be turned in by September 1, 2024.  See the Pre-K requirements on the link below.

Immunization Requirements

High school students will observe and interact with Pre-K students during their early childhood class period on Pre-K days. High school students enrolled in Course 3 will plan and implement small group lessons under the guidance and supervision of classroom teachers. 

No, Hanover will not be providing transportation.  Families are responsible for transportation.

Students will be taught rules and procedures for school that will help prepare them for kindergarten and continued success.  

       Each classroom will have a licensed teacher and an aide for a 14:2 ratio.

Yes, parents will be notified via social media, phone, and email.  Half-day students will need to check Class Dojo for the alternating schedule on delay days.

Teachers have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in education.

No. All supplies are supplied by HLA through the supply fee you paid at registration.  Your child will need a backpack large enough for a folder, a water bottle/thermos, and a lunch box/bag (full-day) or a snack box/bag (half-day).

Yes!  HLA students will not participate in eLearning days...they will be in session, in person.

   Yes, HLA will start and end the same days as the rest of Hanover schools and have the same breaks.  The only differences are no class on Fridays, and class is in session, in person on eLearning days. 

Yes!  We understand that accidents do happen, but we require Pre-K students to be potty-trained.

• For households with Internet access availability over 25/3 Mbps that a family can not afford and they qualify for the new Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) ($30/Mo. discount + $100 towards device) (The household qualifies for the Affordable Connectivity Program if it has an income at or below 200% of the federal poverty guidelines OR any member of the household: ● Participates in certain assistance programs, such as SNAP, Medicaid, Federal Public Housing Assistance, SSI, WIC, or Lifeline; ● Participates in one of several Tribal specific programs: Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance, Tribal Head Start (only households meeting the relevant income qualifying standard), Tribal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (Tribal TANF), Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations; ● Received a federal Pell Grant in the current award year; ● Received approval for benefits under the free and reduced-price school lunch program or the school breakfast program, including through the USDA Community Eligibility Provision, in the 2019-2020 or 2020-2021 school year; or ● Meets the eligibility criteria for a participating provider's existing low-income program.)  The household should apply by either:

Calling school off is never an easy decision. Please be patient and understand that these decisions are difficult to make, taken very seriously, and involve many levels of people helping to determine if conditions are safe for schools to be open, including the county highway department, the Hanover Community Schools buildings and grounds supervisor, other local school districts, as well as the Superintendent of Schools.

 
It is important for you to know the process for calling off school. The Hanover Community Schools begin the process as early as 4:00 a.m. when bad weather is expected.
 
The roads are continually assessed for safety. Buses begin their routes at 5:45 a.m. If by this time the roads are favorable and conditions are expected to be good to get the students safely to school, then school remains open. 

We try to make informed decisions as quickly as possible. As you know, the weather is very unpredictable. 5:45 a.m. is decision-making time unless the conditions drastically change. We appreciate your understanding of the magnitude of the decision-making process and that it is taken very seriously.

In the event the wind chill/temperature is in the -20's range, Hanover Community School Corporation will delay school for two hours, allowing time for the sun to come up and raise the temperature. If the temperature/wind chill does not improve, school will be canceled for the day.

The Hanover Community School Corporation encourages community use of school facilities when such use is in the public interest, does not conflict with school activities, and is not detrimental to the purpose of schools.

The use of school facilities must be submitted online. This will allow those requesting facility usage to submit their requests at any time, from anywhere. Requests will be submitted for Board of School Trustees’ approval at monthly Board meetings, which are usually held the second Tuesday of the month. Therefore, requests need to be submitted in a timely manner (at least two (2) weeks prior to a Board meeting) to be approved.  

Anyone who would like to request facility usage prior to Board meeting approval will need to attach to the request formal documentation requesting approval for usage. After the Superintendent reviews the request, the requestor will be contacted for approval/disapproval.

A site supervisor may be assigned to an event. Charges for site supervisors can be found on the Facility Use Fees page, along with custodial fees. 

Please be advised that if misuse and/or damage to a school facility occurs, we will take appropriate steps to charge accordingly, and may prevent the group from using our facilities in the future.

Residents, staff members, and community groups can make facility use requests by following the steps below:

• All facility use requests are completed online. The first step needed to make an online facility use request is to create an online user account. You can do so by Step One - Online User Account Setup to the left.  Be sure to complete all information fields and then click the submit button. If your registration was successful, you will receive an e-mail confirmation. We have provided links to a short tutorial video and a quick start guide as well below.
